An accomplished musician and one man act with ten albums under his belt, Freddy Charles is a singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist currently based in Los Angeles. With a pop/rock sound influenced by hints of jazz and EDM, he records every note of his record himself and acts as his own engineer and producer, giving him complete artistic control of his musical vision.
Freddy got his start in music as a drummer, giving him a strong rhythmic foundation to build on as he began studying guitar, songwriting, and production. His early records found a small devoted fanbase as he began cultivating his style and coming into his own as an artist. Eventually, he would find a national audience when several of his songs were picked up by Sirius XM and broadcasted across the country, as well as being featured in several independent films. As he continued to make increasingly adventurous records, he became an in demand session drummer and educator.
How many times have you watched a drummer on Youtube or Instagram and said to yourself, "I'll never be able to play like that", or "How can I play with that much speed?". I hear this all the time, and believe me there is no secret sauce. Consistent practice is the number one main ingredient, but what to practice is what will determine the outcome. Simply put, I've developed these books, and my signature practice pad and sticks to give you routines that will undoubtedly build your technique over time. The exercises are mostly simple patterns, but the focus will be executing these patterns with certain techniques, for a specific amount of time. The pad and sticks were designed to my specifications for maximizing rebound and controlling the energy of your motions. I can not guarantee you'll be the next Buddy Rich, but you will certainly have the toolkit to excel to that level if you wish.
Remember, speed itself is not a technique- it is simply the by product of good technique; and that my friends is what I can help you with.
