Acuña Born: December 12, 1944, Pativilca, Peru. Early Steps: Began playing drums at age 10 in local bands in Peru Breakthrough: At 18, joined the orchestra of Perez Prado, touring the United States. Weather Report: From 1975–1977, became a member of the legendary jazz-fusion band Weather Report, contributing to the historic albums Black Market and Heavy Weather. Collaborations: Worked with world-class artists such as Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente, and contributed to film scores by John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Lalo Schifrin
